I absolutely loved the concept of Pure Soapbox, written by Kimberlie Dykeman.

This tiny book is loaded with inspirational sayings and is an absolutely uplifting read.  Dykeman has gathered together some of the most inspirational, yet commonly known "catch phrases" of our generation.  Along with each "pearl of wisdom" the author writes a brief chapter on what the phrase represents to her.

As I was reading this book and going through the phrases (I have to admit that I am a huge fan of these types of sayings and find myself using many of them as life anchors), I kept thinking "Oh good one - I had forgotten about that one".  One of the best examples is the "Just do It" phrase by Nike.  I mean, who has not heard that one? but I had not thought of it in years and when I read it, along with the author's own take on it, it reminded me of how complicated I like to make things.

This is one of the points made in this book.  We, as humans, seem to work overtime on trying to do things the hard way.  Dykeman suggests that by adopting some of these phrases as mantras and inserting a little optimism and humor into our day to day life, we might end up happier and more motivated.

There is some food for thought here.  I like the honesty in which the author looks at each catch phrase and inserting her own brand of humor into her comments.

This is a great read for those looking for quick inspiration.
