Closer than Your Skin

The name of the book at first glance may be deceiving to some. You may
have thought it was a book about skin care or a new beauty
regiment. I did at first glance without reading the second part
of the title.
The book is about those things but not in the sense of you taking care
of your skin with moisturizers, etc. No, this books is not about
superficial beauty... which fades away. No, the author knows that outer
beauty is just skin deep but true beauty comes from within and that
inner beauty can only be brought out by the compassion of God's love
and your relationship with Him.
I'll admit, some books are just easier for me to articulate into words
when I am reviewing them. This book is one of them. It touches my
heart in a way that I just don't know how to get it into words. Her
stories are just so poignant that you really can feel what she is
saying and sensing that God has been trying to "talk" to you too but
you just haven't been listening as well. Boy howdy did it wake me
up!
The author begins the book by revealing how a not so perfect marriage
and two people who need improvement can become renewed again by the
grace of God and His love showing how two people and their
relationships can restored.
Throughout the book, the author shares stories from her life that will
open your eyes to seeing the things, big and little, in your life that
were or are "God things". She relates how simple things are sometimes
little things from God showing us that He is near and that He is
listening. We just have to be willing to listen to Him as well as talk
to Him and give things over to Him. Her stories could very well be
yours as well as mine. She has made realize a few things from my
past that was little "knocks on the door" from God trying to tell me
something.
Such an interesting book that will open your eyes as well as your
heart. It did mine!
I give this book Five stars and would recommend it to others.
