Discovering Veronica

Let me start by saying I don't read romance but this was "suspense"
with romance. Still I usually don't but in this case I am very glad I
did. Shannon Greenland has a winner with Discovering Veronica.
First I really liked the characters involved in the story.
Veronica is a strong woman coming out of relationship where she was
told what to do, when to do it, how to dress, talk and basically live.
She wants to start new at Amelia Academy and be independent at all
costs. She has her dream life on the island of Amelia. At least she
thought she did.
Rico is a strong single Dad who had his own ideas on the person that
was to fill the position of Instructional Technologist. He is the
Headmaster at the Academy but was away when the Board hired Veronica.
However a truce is called and he realizes she is very competent and
unlike anyone he has ever met.
Maria is Rico's young daughter and a total sweetheart. Veronica loves
Maria and spends a lot of time with her. Rico and Maria are very close
and he won't do anything to jeopardize her happiness even at the
expense of his own. He and Veronica both want what's best for Maria so
both decide that it would be best for them just to be friends.
Veronica notices small seemingly insignificant occurrences which don't
seem to be related. She feels eyes on her wherever she is but credits
it to an overactive imagination. Tension escalates. First there is a
threat, then an assault - where will it end?
Discovering Veronica is a fast read with a charming story revolving
around Rico and Veronica. Added is the underlying suspense created by
Veronica's stalker. I would recommend this story to anyone whether
romance is a regular read or not. It has everything a good book should:
good characters, good storyline and a really good ending.
