Deadly Errors
Allen Wyler

Both Deadly Errors and Dead Head offer the average layman an insider's
look at what goes on behind the scenes in hospitals and especially in
operating rooms. Dr. Wyler's descriptions of procedures and new medical
technologies are insightful and rather frightening. In his medical
thrillers he presents some of the possibilities for their misuse for
profit, power and fanaticism.
Deadly Errors involves a computerized medical records system that is
put into use before it has been perfected. The results are deadly for
the test hospital's trusting patients. The real horror of the mistakes
is the cover-up perpetrated by not only the company that developed the
system, but also members of the hospital's upper management. Surgeon
Tyler Matthews learns that those who stand to lose prestige for the
hospital and millions of dollars will stop at nothing to keep the
problems with Med-InDx hidden; including murder. As he tries to save
both his life and his career as a brain surgeon, he realizes that he
has no idea who he can trust.
Dead Head is a timely story concerning terrorists with a plan to kill
hundreds of thousands of Americans. When their computer expert's body
is crushed in an accident they concoct a bizarre plan to keep his head
alive and functioning long enough to complete his part of the plot. Dr.
Russell Lawton has been working to develop a computer that uses brain
activity to manipulate a robot. The terrorists kidnap his eight year
old daughter and threaten to bury her alive if he does not use his
computer and robot to access the information they need from the severed
head of their compatriot.
The author offers documentation at the end of Dead Head that shows just
how close medical science is to making these seemingly unthinkable
scenarios realities. Medical professionals and their patients will be
facing more and more moral and financial dilemmas due to the escalating
pace of technological advances. With his insider's viewpoint, Allen
Wyler uses his talent for writing to bring these possibilities to the
attention of his readers in an exciting way.
