Karen Porter

I found this book to be bubbly and
fun. The cover of the book caught my eye
from the moment I received it in the mail, and held my interest all
through its
chocolate filled pages. The set up is
very exquisite and original, and this book does many things for its
reader. First of all, it is a great read
on many levels. One could simply enjoy
it as a cookbook for chocolate lovers, one could enjoy it as a light
and fun
read, or one can truly soak in it’s meaning for faith and friendship
all the
while enjoying a chocolate covered lifesaver, which was the first
recipe in the
book.
Any woman who finds herself
questioning her friendships or who may be looking to deepen an already
great
friendship will truly love this book. Karen Porter does a great job at
throwing
humor, references from the bible, personal stories, and great chocolate
recipes
into a giant mixing bowl and whipping up a great piece of work! Her
words are
light and caring and most of all, wise.
I never truly understood just how deep a friendship could go,
and on so
many levels!
This book, as I keep saying, is
wonderful. Karen Porter is a witty and
fun loving woman whom you can’t help but feel close to as she reveals
her ups
and her downs in life. What I found
exceptionally lovely was the anticipation of the recipe for a superb
chocolate
dessert that I knew was coming at the end of each chapter.
It’s not that I did not enjoy all that was in
between, but with every little reference she made about chocolate (and
there
were quite a few!), I found myself craving the new recipe more and
more. I also
loved the quotes she would stick in the middle of pages; they were
cute, witty
and always produced a smile out of me.
I think her targeted audience is
women who are, first and foremost, believers in god and faith, and
second,
chocolate lovers! If you are an unfortunate soul that is allergic to
chocolate,
than reading this book may cause you to break out in hives because as
you read
you can almost taste the gooey goodness on your tongue.
My faith is not half as strong and devoted as
Karen Porters, so I almost would have preferred a book that was a
little less
intimidating in that sense, but again, this book is unique in it’s own
and I
think she will find many, many chocolate lover followers!
