How Did I Get So Busy
Valerie Burton
Reviewed by Laura Williams
Interesting book that will help you gain back the control over your
day. Ms. Burton offers time management suggestions to help you
tone down your day all the while taking care of your spiritual well
being.
At the end of the introduction, she includes a check list for you to go
through. You get one point for each statement checked. I'll admit I got
a 12 on it which resulted in a score that told me I was Too Busy and
Frustrated. I had to laugh because I am the mother of seven children. I
homeschool. Write reviews on my blog. Scrapbook (for leisure now as
before I was on three different design teams). So yeah my life
probably would fit the Too Busy bill and at times, yes I'll admit I get
frustrated. Who doesn't in their life?
She goes on to include a list that sets out the Problems of an
Overweight Body and the Problems of an Overload Schedule. Yes, I admit
I fall into both of those categories although I'm not a couch potato
but I do know how to say "no" to people. The bottom line of
both of these categories she says is, "Refusing to change your
lifestyle can lead to serious health and personal problems." I
can see where she is correct in that statement. Overweight people,
myself included, do have more health risks which in turn can lead to
personal problems such as thinking lowly of oneself, etc.
The rest of the book is broken down into 28 chapters... 1 chapter for
each day. So even if you are one of those "too busy" people, you can
fit one chapter into your day. Take lunch and read the chapter while
you munch on your meal. You may just find more than the meal to
digest. I admit it, I'm a multi-tasking person... another sign of
"being too busy". Just don't blame me for the meal/reading
suggestion! You'll find yourself making the time to read this
book without having to multi-task to do it.
Don't be surprised that you may just find yourself wanting to forge
ahead and read the next day's chapter, and so on.
